In 2023-2024, the Main Campus Office for Faculty is piloting a Mentorship Program for New Faculty. Four separate “pods,” organized by broad disciplines and faculty type (i.e., tenure-line, career-line), will meet monthly with a senior faculty mentor for cohort building and to address various aspects of faculty life at the U. In addition, all four pods will meet together quarterly with key leaders from around the university to help set the new faculty up for success at Utah. The wider faculty community will also be welcome to take part in these quarterly events.

As a pilot program, space was limited and is at capacity. If you are interested in participating in this program next year—either as a mentor or as a mentee—please email us at officeforfaculty@utah.edu.

U-CAN provides opportunities for trainees, faculty, and staff to promote professional effectiveness, career advancement, and a culture of caring and collegiality through coaching. Faculty members can sign up either to be a coach, to be coached, or both!  The program in Health Sciences has been focused on Early-Career Coaching (ECC), and this year Health Sciences is adding a pilot Late-Career Coaching (LCC) program. In 2023-2024, we are piloting an On-demand Mentorship Program for department chairs, school directors, and program directors. We have assembled Faculty Fellows to meet with current chairs/directors one-on-one to answer questions, discuss problems and situations as they arise, and problem-solve.
